Overheard in the Tube:
[4 girls with various food items sit down across from us. Girl 3 is drinking Red Bull.]
Girl 2: Red Bull gives you cancer, you know.
Girl 1: Where'd you hear that?
Girl 2: Somewhere. [pause] Oh, no it doesn't, it gives you wings.
[Hysterical laughter.]

The Camper Van Beethoven show was totally excellent, but this, my first experience at a rock concert in the UK, was a little strange to me. Maybe because it was a sit-down venue--and the chairs were padded leather and had arms, no less--but the British public were very polite and remained seated throughout almost the entire show. I feel like a rock & roll concert is a place for dancing and screaming. That wasn't happening.

Nonetheless, I had lots of fun. The band sounded great. David looked adorable in his glasses. Greg was amazing. Victor has gone gray, but it suits him. And as for Jonathan, all night I was bothered by a resemblance to somebody and I finally realized he now looks just like that guy who played Q on Star Trek: the Next Generation. What's that guy's name? I took a picture of Jonathan as he was doing some crazy pizzicato and I swear he saw me and was posing just for me. I wouldn't be surprised.

Ah yes, that's him. Thank you. Jonathan Segel really does look strangely like him. It's freaky.
