Goodness, what to say about the Camper show? ( Really not so much. I run out of superlatives after a while. )
I have my 6 lonely photos, of which 83.3bar% are not too blurry. And we saw a guy with a huge microphone up in the balcony so I'm hoping a nice recording of this show will be making the rounds pretty soon.

Yay, Billy Bragg is finally coming back to Chicago! It has been many (well, more than 2) years since I last got to watch him play his songs and rant about politics in between.
CVB last night was awesome, as expected. I'll write more later, but my pictures (all 6 of them, one of which is irretrievably blurry) are now up here. I have a scan of my hard-won setlist up too.

We got today off school since this university finally decided to make MLK Day a holiday for us. I wonder if it's taking the place of the old Winter Break—they don't like giving us more than one day off per quarter. Anyway, it was nice not having to get up early for class. I just sat around, knitted and read while enjoying our new, comfortable couch. Pretty decadent.
So only two days of class for me this week, and the Camper Van Beethoven show on Thursday...speaking of which,
hobbitgrrl, we need to make plans for that. I'm so looking forward to it!

Snow showers in the forecast for tomorrow, hooray! Much better than this freezy cold rain. And with this weather, what better time for ( some knitted accessories? With pictures! Very long!! )
Unrelated to knitting: I love it when I get an email that makes me gasp aloud in happy anticipation.
hobbitgrrl, did you see the message on the CamperVan-Etc list mentioning that CVB will be at the Abbey Pub on Jan 19th? We'll have to bundle up and trek out there for that.

Hee, my head hurts from all the giggling I did tonight. And
hobbitgrrl and I had plenty to giggle about! (Full details about the CVB show will follow, when I've gotten over my giddiness.)

giggly

( Well, crap. ) Anyway, anybody out there in the Chicagoland area want to go see CVB for free tomorrow night? I'm serious, email me if you're interested.
mood: amused yet irritated
music: R.E.M., "Cuyahoga"
Man, I feel so totally bummed about Camper Van Beethoven's gear being stolen, and not even for the selfish reason that I'm supposed to see them a few times over the next week, but just because I can't imagine how crappy it must be to lose everything like that.
I wish I played electric violin so I could give mine to Jonathan.

I was starting to think I was the only one who hadn't yet received my preorder of the new Camper Van Beethoven album (New Roman Times, official release date Tuesday 12 Oct)—I mean, a guy in Japan said he got his a couple days ago and I know Chicago is closer to Athens GA than Japan is—but hurrah! there it was when I came home today. I won't go into details since most of you reading this will never listen to it, but three things: 1) I love love love the punched-up acoustic guitar in 51-7; 2) David straining to reach those high notes on That Gum You Like = hot stuff; and 3) I Am Talking to this Flower is still my favorite. But I've only listened to it a couple times, I could change my mind yet. I've got tickets to see them in Milwaukee and Chicago at the end of the month...I'm thinking I might need to do a little more traveling than that, though.
Also in today's mail, ( one of the stupidest [and girliest] things I've ever paid money for. But at least I'm a stupid girl who votes. )
I am posting way more than usual lately. Maybe I'll lie low the next couple days. Though I do have some nice new Wallace pictures that perhaps you'd like to see...
