Okay, for day 2 of happy posts, I entered an online giveaway for a videogame and got a free copy of PixelJunk Eden. Which is actually something I was interested in trying out, so hurrah!

Also, my boss agreed to let me have Thursday & Friday off. Whoopee!

aliste is a character in the French medieval chanson de geste Berte aus grans piés (roughly, "Bigfoot Bertha"). Berte is supposed to marry Pépin le Bref, but the treacherous lady-in-waiting Margiste substitutes her own daughter instead, and Berte is abandoned in the forest. The imposter is eventually exposed by Berte's mother, who notices that her feet are normal; Berte is subsequently rescued by the king, and all ends well. aliste is the name of the false queen, and also, as the fabulous Professor P. Dembowski pointed out to me, the medieval French equivalent of my own first name; hence my choice. Oh, and in case you were wondering, it's pronounced "ah-LEAST."

Heh, this interests meme amuses me because 1) I didn't have to do the counting myself; and 2) it landed on several of my "unique" interests.

Man, it is so nice to be back home in Chicago.

So, this silly thing happened: when we were in Ocala we went by the library. I'd left my old library card here so I asked if I could get a new one, and the gray-haired librarian asked me how old I am. Now, I know I'm really short and I do look younger than I am, but I would have thought that I at least look old enough to get a library card without my parents' permission, which is why I assume she asked me my age.

I don't usually do these things where you take stuff from other people, because I'm a snob, but I couldn't help myself this time, because, well, I'm a snob. ( It's that book thing. ) And I have to say, anybody who claims they read Finnegans Wake all the way through is LYING.
