birthday
Well, I wanted to get this recap done earlier, but I totally needed a nap after my 14 hours of traveling since yesterday morning. Now, though, I'm rested and ready to write. So, yeah. Last night was probably my favorite show ever, for so many reasons. Settle in and get comfortable if you want to read about it. This is going to take a while. )

Check out pictures and stuff if you like, if only to see Flansy playing acoustic guitar. Wackiness!

First off, big hugs to [info]hobbitgrrl and her folks for letting me hang out at the farm; I really appreciated it! And I don't know what she will/did write about this show, but I imagine it's going to be almost exactly the same story, possibly in almost the exact same words, as what I'm about to. So now, meet our friend Will. )

Pictures and stuff now, but there won't be any mp3s. Sorry! You can buy it though.

A week later and it's like a lifetime ago, but let's see what I can remember. The insanity starts here. )

Oh, and as always, I've got photos and stuff. No mp3s though, as this show is already for sale.

road trip 2005: foreword

  • Jul. 19th, 2005 at 7:08 PM
all hell breaks loose
Okay, this is where it starts. I just wanted to slip this note in before I begin, to explain that this set of recaps is probably (I haven't started writing them yet, but I'm getting the feeling that they're probably) going to be rather more personal than previous ones, because this trip was more about all the people I met and traveled with than the shows themselves.

Not that the shows weren't important too. :P

So now, continue onward if you dare. I've put together this little table of contents to help you navigate to where you want to go:

> foreword
* St Louis
* Indy
* Detroit
* Cleveland – Odeon
* Cleveland – KidsFest
* Lebowski Fest

I also recommend [info]hobbitgrrl's series of entries on the trip for a different perspective on these same events. I deliberately didn't read hers before I wrote mine, but I'm assuming there's going to be a lot of overlap.

Okey-doke, after a nap, a good night's sleep, breakfast at Salonica, a trip to Costco and another nap, I've managed to get all my recent pictures up in the usual place. All the scans, photos and videos are there; some of the shows we went to are already for sale, but since Dan has marked the 3 Cleveland shows as "NA" I will have mp3s from those eventually, hopefully this week before I (maybe) go to Louisville.

I'll be doing my usual recaps as well, so be prepared for me to flood your friends page over the next couple of days...

Wow, I'm back. And so, so tired.

Lots more later, but quickly:

Big thanks go to my intrepid fellow travelers [info]unsupervised, [info]hobbitgrrl, and [info]k1cup; and to [info]rosamundeb, [info]psyknife and [info]cptmoll for the companionship and lodgings.

I've got so much to tell but now, after my long journey, I can at last rest. Although Dan Miller did say he'd guestlist me for next week's Lebowski Fest...
